Getting to Zero™
Help us with our "Getting to Zero" Campaign with your donations. The Humane Educational Society is a 501(C)(3) organization and all donations made are tax deductible! Regardless of budget, there is so much to be done to make all of Hamilton County a "No Kill Zone" for unwanted pets who are trainable, adoptable and treatable (TAT). Please consider giving a gift of love that is so important in the lives of our pets.

Letter from the Director:
To My Friends: I need your support to finish the job. We have made great progress since announcing our Getting to Zero™ campaign one year ago. Thanks to your contributions, we have been able to reduce euthanasia of treatable, adoptable and trainable (TAT) animals in a significant way from 7/21/06.

• 17% to less than 8% overall
• 0% for healthy adoptable cats—C.A.T.S. & new free roaming cat room
did the trick
• 4% for healthy adoptable dogs—new "real-life rooms" for dogs needed

HES received national and local recognition for our programs this year:

• American Humane Association: Honorable Mention Award and
provided a Meacham grant for our second cat room.
• Better Business Bureau: Torch Ethics Honorable Mention Award

PetsMart Charities: agreed to bring the Rescue Waggin' to HES, (transporting 60 animals at a time to a sister, no-kill shelter), gave HES a grant to cover a large portion of HES, 70-cat rescue costs and asked me to speak at their national conference this fall about Getting to Zero™.

We need your support to continue our important work. See below how hard we work for your dollars in caring for homeless pets and view our goals and needs. Only you can help us lead the way to make HES's next 100 years of animal stewardship better for homeless pets. Together we can make all of Hamilton County a "no-kill" zone. Please donate to keep HES strong for the animals! Thank you for another great year,

Guy Bilyeu, HES Executive Director

• We care for 500 animals daily & take in about 12,000 annually.

• We are providing strong leadership and solid management skills to fix euthanasia and pet over-population problems.

• We will continue to target your donations to save more lives and work with governments to pay for their costs of services provided.

• It will take people like you partnering with HES. It won't be easy, but together we can "Get to Zero." Please join the HES team.

See our Goals for our 100th anniversary!!
The Humane Educational Society began serving Hamilton County in 1907 and was incorporated as a non-profit in 1910. By our official 100th year anniversary in 2010, the Humane Educational Society is planning to achieve these goals:

• "Get to Zero" and work with other shelters to rescue TAT pets from death.

• Complete renovations of our kennel and adoption center.

• Be fully supported by private donors, grants and fund raisers.

• Complete Humane Educational Center for Children and become a leader with our new "kid kindness™" training and community outreach, partnering with child abuse and woman abuse groups to stem violence in our community.
