Foster families are an
important part of our volunteer program. When you become a Foster Parent, you
can save the lives of many animals. While it might be difficult to say goodbye
to your new friend, the personal reward of knowing you have given yet another
animal a second chance at living a happy life grows with each and every foster.
HES is always in need of loving homes that have the time and patience to provide
a short term home to kittens and occasionally puppies that are still too young
to be adopted into permanent homes. In special cases adult animals may also be
in need of a foster home. To learn more about fostering and to see if it is
right for you please review our foster application
information page. Then fill the actual application.
Our Foster Coordinator will contact you for an interview and answer all your
questions.
Haven’t ever fostered before? Wondering how it works? Don’t worry, the HES
Foster Coordinator will train you and give you full instructions on how to care
for your tiny friends! The time frame for each situation will of course be
different, depending on the animal/s you are fostering. One week to one month is
the average time it takes to successfully foster a litter of kittens or a single
animal that is waiting for a forever home. Perhaps you want to adopt but the
time is just not right. Fostering is an excellent way to save lives until you
are ready for a full time commitment. Contact the shelter if the
foster application page does not answer all
your questions.
