Paws in the Park:
A Huge Success! This year we put on
the best fundraiser ever for animals in Chattanooga!Paws in
the Park was our first major fundraiser to
kick-off our Getting to Zero™ campaign to end euthanasia for
trainable, adoptable and treatable animals.
We needed the support of the community and we got it!
Between 800 - 1,000 people attend and we raised $40,000 in
sponsorships and pledges and another $15,000 through in-kind
donations! Thank you! Thank you! for making this effort a
huge success that will only grow in the future.
As you can see in the photos, fun was had by all who attended and
there were many animal contest winners as well as fundraising
team/individual winners recognized at the event. The weather
was beautiful and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves tremendously!
In addition, HES had a shelter dog reunion with over 200 animals and their
owners! It was truly wonderful to see these formerly
homeless pet thriving from the love of their new guardians.
Once in what seemed a hopeless situation for each of them, they are
now each blossoming!
We were so impressed with the support of our community and
feeling of all of us coming together to help our animals. The
support for the Getting to Zero campaign was terrific! We
don't want to stop now; but rather we are even more dedicated by
this show of support to "Get to Zero!"
Money raised for this
event will help provide the following:
1. To help treatable animals, donations assist with medications
and care in foster homes.
2. For training, donations will help bring in trainers and equipment
to work with shelter animals and staff.
3. For adoptable animals, donations will help with our adoption
programs.
4. To help reduce unwanted litters, the low-cost spay/neuter program
is especially important for low-income and the elderly.
5. Donations will also support many HES construction projects, such
as the beautiful free-roaming cat room, cage expansion, play yards
for the dogs and an education/training center where students can
learn positive animal training, bathing/grooming techniques and
breed recognition.
