Training your pet is the best thing that
you can do for both of you! Your enjoyment of your pet will
only increase as you grow and learn together.
Too many pets end up admitted to shelters
due to lack of training.
If you find that you are considering
admitting your pet to a shelter, please consider alternatives!
The commitment made to a companion animal
should be for life. Part of that commitment includes training
your pet to reduce and eliminate unacceptable behavior should it
occur. There are many options for behavior training that
you may find within the articles listed below that will allow
you to keep your pet and enjoy him fully!
In addition, there are training facilities
and trainers that can be found within our city to assist you with
most any training dilemmas you may have.
HES is striving each day to improve the lives of our animals and to
ensure that, once adopted, they never return to the shelter again!
(Well, maybe for a visit to let us know how much they are loved in
their new homes!)
In keeping with the
effort to provide forever homes to each adopted animal, HES is now giving each
new adoptive doggie parent an easy to follow, reward-based training video on a
DVD. Providing instructions for dogs of every age, size and breed,
the video covers common behavioral issues including house training, problem
chewing, mouthing, jumping, manners and obedience and crate training.
At HES, we believe that
training is essential to having a good relationship with your dog!
Training leads to communicating with your pet so both of you are happier.
We believe that no one
adopts a pet with the intention of returning it to the shelter, but
unfortunately we see this happen quite often. Sadly, many pets are
relinquished every year due to behavior problems that will improve with
training. We stress that we all have to remember that our dogs don't know
how we want them to act until we teach them! Once trained, it is easy to
live in sync with one another.
The training DVD offers
positive, reward-based training to help eliminate issues that may frustrate new
adoptive parents. We encourage those who adopt from us to take the time to
view the video and put its techniques to practice.
HES's mission is to
educate the public concerning proper care and treatment of companion animals and
to reduce the number of those animals found homeless in our community. Our
programs and services are designed to give the lost, abandoned and abused
animals in our care a second chance at a forever home. We believe that
supplying this training video with each dog adoption will help us achieve our
mission.
